How to Upload Lots of Pictures to Facebook

Unlike several other photo storage websites, Facebook limits neither the size of individual photos you may upload to your user profile nor the total quantity of photos you may upload to your account. Although a per-album limit of 200 does exist, you may create as many albums as you want. If you want to upload large quantities of photos to Facebook, it's possible to make uploading them a faster, easier affair by keeping several tips and guidelines in mind.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect to a fast, reliable Internet connection prior to beginning the upload, whether it's your home wired connection -- in other words, it uses an "Ethernet" cable -- or wireless connection to which only you have access. Public networks, such as those you find in coffee shops and airports, are prone to fluctuations in speed, depending on the number of users connected at a given time.

    • 2

Organize photos on your hard drive according to how you want to separate them on Facebook -- it's faster to upload images directly into their albums in the first place rather than attempt transferring them once you've already uploaded them. For example, if you have photos from your 30th birthday party, a recent wedding and a trip to the Bahamas, create three folders on your computer for each occasion and transfer copies of the corresponding photos into the folder. Keep in mind that each album may contain only 200 images, but that you may create as many albums as you'd like.

    • 3

Upload photos you've re-sized from the original "raw" format whenever possible -- or, if you know you're going to upload photos you take to Facebook, set your digital camera to shoot in "Medium" or "Large" size, rather than "Original." Although Facebook allows you to upload photos that are as large as you want, larger files to longer to upload than smaller ones. Upload small files whenever possible to decrease your overall upload time for large batches.

    • 4

Use Facebook's "Flash" uploader -- which allows you to upload as many photos as you want at a time -- rather than the "Basic" one, which limits you to five per batch. Click the "Photos" button, then click "Upload New Photos" to upload a batch of photos to a new album, or open an existing album and click "Add Photos" to add more images to it. Highlight the name of all the photos you wish to add to a given album. To add photos to another album simultaneously or to create a new album, open a new Internet browser tab or window and repeat the process there.
