1
Grab your textbook. Many textbooks offer practice tests and additional notes on the publisher's Web site. Teachers will often notify their class and give students a class password if one is needed to access tests and course-related material on the site. When you choose to use textbook-related tests, look through your textbook to ensure you are reviewing the correct material. Make sure that the book edition you use in class corresponds to the one used online so you do not end up studying for material that is not related to what you are currently learning.

2
Study for the tests. Utilize the information that you have in textbooks and on Web sites before you take your first American Government practice test. Studying before the practice test gives you a better idea of what you know and understand and what you need to brush up on.

Use your book, notes and other information. Many people learn by utilizing an open book during a test. While you may not be able to take an actual American government test using open book or notes, practice tests help you match the information you have learned in class to the information that is on the test. Open-book tests also make you read the sections in order to find the correct answer.

Try other Web sites. If your textbook does not offer course-related materials and tests online, go elsewhere. There are many sites that offer practice tests for American government. GED and ACT test-prep Web sites offer pretests that high school students and some college students are able to use to their advantage. If your textbook does offer course-related materials and tests, another Web site may still be valuable for additional help.
