The iMac has a small built-in iSight camera that shoots pictures and videos. It is located at the center top of the iMac screen, making it convenient for taking a quick picture to send someone, shoot videos or to engage in a video chat while you sit in front of the computer. The iSight camera saves pictures in the JPG format, and it has a microphone to record sound when shooting video.
Step 1
Click the "Photo Booth" icon on the dock to open the program for shooting pictures and videos. A green light next to the iChat camera lens will turn on, indicating that the camera is working.

Click the tab with the square-shaped icon to select single picture taking mode. Click the "Camera" button to take a picture.
Step 3
Click the tab with the four-panel square-shaped icon to select 4-up mode. Click the "Camera" button to take a quick burst of four pictures.

Click the tab with the film frame icon to select video mode. Click the "Camera" button to start shooting video, and click it again to stop shooting.
Step 5
Click on a thumbnail picture of a photo or video that you shot from the section at the bottom of the Photo Booth window, and it will appear in the display for you to view.
Step 6
Click on the "iChat" icon on the dock to start a video chat. Click "Video" from the menu, then "Video Preview." A green light next to the iChat camera lens will turn on, indicating that the camera is working. Click on a buddy in your iChat list to start a video chat.
