How to Get Motherboard Information
Getting information on your computer's motherboard is necessary if you want to upgrade your system, or if something goes wrong and you need to reorder parts. Identifying a motherboard and getting useful information is a straightforward process. All you need is to open the computer's case and check the make and serial number of the motherboard. Once you have the required information, you can reorder parts or upgrade your computer's motherboard.

Using a Screwdriver

Unscrew the back and top cover of your computer using a screwdriver. Keep the screws in a safe place so you will not lose any of them.

Unscrew the motherboard and remove it from the computer's frame.

Look for the motherboard's serial number. The serial number is normally located at the expansion slot, CPU slot or CPU socket. The serial number contains several numbers and letters separated by hyphens.
Using a Software

Turn on your computer. Wait until everything has started up, and press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Del" at the same time.

Choose "Start Task Manager." Click on the "Performance" tab. The performance tab will detail the motherboard's specifications, and it will give you all CPU information and running program data.

Click once on the "Start" icon at the bottom-left corner of the screen. Choose "Control Panel" from the pop-up window.

Choose the "Performance and Maintenance" option. Click on the "General" tab, which will give you all necessary system and motherboard information.
