How to Use the Adobe Reader to Print

Adobe Reader is a free application that lets you view PDFs or Portable Document Format files. You cannot make any edits to these PDF files unless you have special software. This makes it ideal to share these files with others so they can print them. PDF files contain all of the layout data, fonts, and other graphics so other computers that use Adobe Reader can see the same rendering regardless of configuration. Use Adobe Reader's print feature to see what the PDF file looks like on paper.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Adobe Reader, then open the file you want to print.

    • 2

Click the "File" menu and select "Print" to bring up a dialog where you can see the printer options.

    • 3

Set the printer name to the printer that you want to use for printing. Adjust any of the other options to suit your preferences. The preview will update when you change the settings so you can get an idea of the output.

    • 4

Click the "OK" button to print the entire PDF. To print only certain pages, in the "Print Range" pane, type the number of the pages you want to print. For a range of pages, use a hyphen. Separate each page or range with a comma or space (such as "6, 9, 16-22, 41").

Tips & Warnings

  • Click the "Advanced" or "Properties" buttons to see even more options for printing your PDF file.

  • Uncheck the "Auto-Rotate Pages" and set the "Page Scaling" option to "None" if you notice that the print output appears smaller and out of position.
