How to Flash the BIOS of an SX270

The OptiPlex SX270 is a Dell desktop computer. It was sold with Windows XP, but users could install other operating systems if they wanted. While Dell no longer sells this model, users can download BIOS and driver updates from the Dell website. Windows users can install the updates from within Windows; users with other operating systems can install the BIOS update using a floppy disk.

Instructions

1. Download the BIOS file to your desktop. You can find the download link in the Resources section.

2. Double-click the BIOS file you downloaded.

3. Click "Continue."

4. Wait for the "Pressing OK will close all applications, shut down Windows, Flash the BIOS, then reboot" message to appear.

5. Click "OK."

Tips & Warnings

• Non-Windows users can download the BIOS file onto a bootable floppy disk, then reboot the computer with the disk in the floppy drive.
