How to Make Ringtones on iPhone 4

Custom ring tones add personal flair.

While the iPhone 4 comes with many standard ring tones, you may want to create your own to give it a more personalized feel. You could always create ring tones on your computer and sync them to your iPhone, but it's much less cumbersome to create them directly on the phone. Many apps are available on the iTunes App Store to facilitate ring tone creation, and most of these apps are free. Ringtone Designer, Custom Ringtones, Ringtone Maker and Create Ringtones! are some of the most commonly downloaded.

Instructions

1. Go to your iPhone's home screen and press the App Store icon.

2. Tap the "Search" button at the bottom; and then tap the search bar. Type "create ringtones" and press "Search."

3. Browse the apps in the list that appears to find one that you like.

4. Tap the app that you want to download. Tap the price button on the next page; and then tap it again when it turns green. Enter your Apple ID name and password to confirm the download. An icon for the app appears with a progress bar on your home screen.

5. Press the app's icon when the progress bar disappears. Choose to create a ring tone from a song or from a recording, and name the ring tone. Set the time markers to create a clip that lasts 30 seconds or shorter. Tap the button to create the ring tone, and then choose to set it as either your default ring tone, or a ring tone for a specific contact.
