How to Deactivate Voice Over in an iPod Touch

The iPod Touch is equipped with accessibility features that make it easier for users with auditory, visual or other physical disabilities to use the device. When you have VoiceOver activated on the iPod Touch, the feature describes aloud what appears on your screen. It also changes the way gestures work on the touch screen. For example, a double-tap acts as a single tap. Use the VoiceOver gestures to navigate the iPod Touch and deactivate the feature from the Settings menu.

  • Press the "Home" button.

  • Tap the "Settings" icon, then double-tap the same icon to open the Settings menu.

  • Tap "General." Then double-tap "General." The General menu opens.

  • Use three fingers to scroll to the "Accessibility" tab.

  • Tap the "Accessibility" tab once, then double-tab it to open the Accessibility page.

  • Tap the "VoiceOver" selection once, then double-tap it.

  • Tap "On" next to the VoiceOver field. Then double-tap "On" to turn VoiceOver off.
