Save

Unlocking your Sony Xperia X10 phone means that you have the ability to use it with other mobile networks. It also means that you can even use your phone in another country. If you received your Sony Ericsson phone through the mail, it may come with a lock on it. To remove this lock, you need to install mobile unlocking software. First, you need to obtain an International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) number, which helps the software generate the appropriate code for your phone.

Things You'll Need

  • IMEI number
  • Unlocking software
  • USB cable
  • Enter *#06# in your phone's keypad. Press the "SEND" button. This will give you the 15-digit IMEI number you need to unlock your phone.

  • Download unlocking software from the Web. Examples include software available from Unlocktotalk.com, Theunlocker.co.uk and Unlockingsoftware.co.uk. Save the software to your desktop.

  • Double-click the software's icon. Read and accept the terms of agreement. Save the software to your computer's hard drive.

  • Plug the USB cable into your Sony Xperia X10 phone. Insert the other end into your computer's available USB port.

  • Launch the unlocking software. Wait, as the software will detect your mobile phone. Enter your phone's IMEI number. Select your phone's model number and manufacturer name, along with your country from the drop-down lists.

  • Press the "Unlock" button. Enter the unlock code that the software generated into your phone. Your phone will reboot itself and unlock to the network.
