How to Connect Address Book Contacts to Facebook on a Mac

The Address Book in Mac OS X, which helps you organize your contacts and all of their information, lets you connect with Facebook to find your contacts online. Your Mac automatically imports your most used email contacts in Apple Mail to Address Book, which means you can connect to Facebook with out creating a CSV file. Connecting your email account to your Facebook account does not automatically sync the two and you will need to reconnect when you add new contacts to your Address Book on your Mac.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Safari - or your preferred Web browser - on your Mac and navigate to Facebook.com. Enter your email address and password, then click the "Login" button.

    • 2

Click the "Friends" link in the left column of your homepage. Click the "Find Friends" link that appears just underneath.

    • 3

Enter the primary email address that you use with Address Book on your Mac and the password into the fields below "Step 1."

    • 4

Check the boxes next to the people you want to add and click the "add as Friends" button to send a friend request.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have many contacts in your Address Book that you do not communicate regularly with by email, you can export a CSV file in Address Book and import it to Facebook.
