How to Remove BlackBerry Drivers From Windows 7

BlackBerry device drivers are software packets that allow a BlackBerry mobile phone to communicate with your computer. Device drivers are necessary if you plan on synchronizing your BlackBerry to your computer or transferring files to it via a USB cable. You may also remove and re-add BlackBerry device drivers if you are experiencing a synchronization issue. Uninstalling programs such as BlackBerry Desktop Software does not remove the device drivers from your computer. Those must be removed manually.

  • Press the "Start" button in the bottom left-hand corner of your computer. (Reference 1)

  • Place your cursor in the search box. (Reference 1)

  • Type "devmgmt.msc" in the search box and press the "Enter" key. This will launch the Device Manager. (Reference 1)

  • Click the white arrow next to "Portable Devices" to expand the list of portable device drivers located on your computer. (Reference 2)

  • Right-click on the BlackBerry driver and choose "Uninstall." Repeat this step with any drivers from RIM or BlackBerry in your Device Manager. (Reference 1)

  • Restart your computer after the BlackBerry drivers are removed.
