How to Patch Pool Inflatables
Inflatable pool toys range from basic arm floaties to elaborate lounge chairs. Pool inflatables are made of vinyl and filled with air. When they go flat, you must find the place where the puncture occurred and patch it. Fortunately, you can purchase a vinyl patch kit at most pool outlets or retailers that sell summer pool products. It will only take a few minutes to get your inflatable sealed and ready for more fun. Does this Spark an idea?

Fill the inflatable with air. Locate the leak by listening for air making a high-pitched noise as it escapes. Mark the hole with a black marker by placing a dot next to it.

Collapse the air intake valve with your fingers to expel the remaining air from the toy.

Scuff the surface around the hole with the abrasive metal pad provided in the vinyl repair kit. Some kits do not come with a scuff pad. If your kit did not, forgo this step.

Wipe the surface around the hole with an alcohol swab--this removes oils and residue from the vinyl and helps to promote adhesion.

Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back of the vinyl patch. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the surface around the hole.

Place the patch over the hole and use your finger to express any excess glue or air from under the patch.

Press the patch against the vinyl inflatable for a period of 5 minutes with your thumb or set a heavy object on it. Wait the amount of time recommended by the adhesive manufacturer before filling the inflatable again.
