How to Use Avatars on Skype

You can use Avatars on Skype by changing your profile picture. Your Skype contacts can see your picture on their contacts list by clicking on your name and by looking next to your message during Skype messaging. You can add any photo to your profile picture as long as the photo is saved to your computer.

Change your avatar on Skype for Mac OS X

1. Login to your Skype account.

2. Click "Account" from the top toolbar, then select "My Profile."

3. Drag your chosen photo to the box in the bottom left of the screen. If you already have an avatar, that photo will appear in the box. You can use jpeg, gif, pdf, png, and bmp files. Instead of dragging the photo, you can click "Change" next to the box and browse for your photo.

Change your avatar for Skype for Windows 5.0 and newer

1. Login to your Skype account.

2. Click on "Skype" in the upper toolbar, then "Profile," then "Change Your Picture."

3. Click "Browse" to search for a picture you have saved on your computer. Click on the photo to upload it.

4. Click "OK" to complete the process.
