Ghost hunters use special equipment to photograph spirits.

The search for paranormal activity has long fascinated humankind. Ghost hunters seek poltergeists at haunted houses, cemeteries and crime scenes. They use tools such as electronic voice phenomenon detectors, electromagnetic radiation detectors, ion generators and infrared thermal imaging cameras. When the ghost hunt comes to an end, some enthusiasts are concerned that the evil spirits they sought may follow them home. They can keep that from happening by performing rituals that discourage evil spirits before leaving the ghost-hunting venue.

Instructions

    • 1

Light one end of the "smudging" herb bundle with the matches or lighter. Wave the bundle over your head, along your body and all around yourself. Bathe yourself in the smoke. Focus on creating an herbal shield around your body that evil spirits cannot penetrate. Wave the smoke around and inside your vehicle.

Moisten your fingertips with holy water and dab a drop of the holy water onto your forehead, chest and shoulders in the sign of the cross if you are Catholic.

    • 3

Say, "In the name of Jesus, evil spirits, I command you not to follow me." These are the words the apostle Paul used to cast out demons in Acts 16:16-18.

    • 4

Light an aromatic candle and leave it outside the door or in the gateway of the site where the evil spirits live to keep them from crossing the threshhold to follow you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Skeptics who don't believe in spirits say ghost-hunting gadgets are a sham, while some Christians believe it is sinful to dabble in paranormal activity. Under either interpretation, playing with paranormals can affect your wealth or your salvation.
