The best way to repair Windows Media Player, no matter which version you use, is to use Windows 7's Windows Features options to uninstall Windows Media Player and then reinstall it.

  • Click on the Start button, then click "Control Panel."

  • Type "Windows features" into the Control Panel search box. Press "Enter."

  • Click on the "Turn Windows features on or off" option."

  • Expand the "Media Features" folder by clicking on the plus sign next to it.

  • Uncheck the box next to Windows Media Player and click "Yes." Click "OK."

  • Restart your computer.

  • Repeat the above steps to navigate to the "Media Features" folder once more.

  • Check the box next to Windows Media Player. Click "OK."
