How to Change Video Cards on the PowerEdge T100
The Dell PowerEdge T100 is an entry-level server for small businesses. Dell designed it for processor-intensive applications and not graphics work, so there is an integrated video card chip on the motherboard instead of a dedicated video card. The integrated chip is fine for most applications and less expensive to install than traditional card, but power users may find it inadequate. Change to a dedicated video card to boost performance in video games and graphics processor-accelerated programs.
Instructions

1
Shut down the server and remove all cables from the unit. Press and hold the "Power" button for several seconds to ground the system components.
-
2
Place the server left-side down. Press the rectangular release tab on the top back of the unit inward to the release the system cover. Grab the top edge of the cover and pull it away to access the internal components.

-
3
Touch a bare metal area, such as the power supply housing or part of the case, to ground yourself.
-
4
Press the release tab on the card retention door next to the expansion slots. These slots are in the lower-right corner of the server. Push the retention system latch down. It is in the same location as the release tab but on the exterior of the system.
The PowerEdge T100 does not have a PCI-Express x16 slot for installing a high-end video card. However, there is a single PCI slot that can accommodate a low-end graphics card. The white slot is the longest of the four expansion slots in the lower-right corner of the system.
-
5
Pull out any video card currently sitting in the slot, if necessary. Otherwise remove the metal filler bracket and insert a video card into the PCI slot. Push the card down to make sure it is fully in place.
-
6
Push the card retention door down to close it. Replace the system cover. Insert the bottom edge first and then push the rest of the cover inward to snap it back in place. Plug all cables back in.

Tips & Warnings
It is impossible to remove or replace the integrated graphics processor. The server will automatically disable it when you install the dedicated video card.
Keep the metal filler bracket in case you ever remove the video card.
