How to Fold Ribbons
The art of folding ribbons into large, decorative bows is something that requires a bit of practice in order to get it right. Folding a length of ribbon into multiple loops will create a large decorative bow that can be used to spruce up a flower arrangement or attached to a wrapped gift. Generally speaking, a folded ribbon bow should have at least six loops of ribbon to make it look nice, but the more loops you use, the more full your bow will appear. In order to create an 8-inch bow, with 14 loops of folded ribbon, you will need approximately 3 yards of ribbon.

1
Cut a length of ribbon that is approximately 3 yards in length.
-
2
Form a loop using the end of the ribbon and hold the loop in place by inserting your thumb inside the loop and placing your index and middle finger underneath. Right-handed people should hold the loop with their left hand and left-handed people should hold the loop in their right hand. Be sure to allow approximately a 4-inch length of ribbon extending from the center loop.

3
Twist the ribbon underneath the first loop so that the shiny side of the ribbon is facing upwards again. Create a slightly larger loop than the first. This is the one side of the bow.
-
4
Twist the ribbon again underneath the center loop and hold the ribbon while you make a second loop on the other side of the center.
-
5
Continue twisting and looping until you have 14 loops in total. Cut off the end of the ribbon with a 4-inch streamer on the other side.
-
6
Insert a "u" shaped piece of wire through the center loop, under your thumb and bend it down on each side of the bow. Twist the wire securely to hold the bow's shape and cut off the excess wire.

Tips & Warnings
Keep a tight hold onto the center of the ribbon as you work, pinching with the thumb, forefinger and middle finger. If you let go of the ribbon, it will come unfolded and you will need to start over.
