How to Address a Sympathy Card for a Co-Worker's Family Member
Most of us have dealt with the situation of an ailing family member and could use all the support we can get. If your co-worker is going through something similar, write out a sympathy card even if you don't know him that well. Any and all support is usually welcomed. When addressing the card, keep some thoughts in mind, like how well you know the person and how to sign your name.

1
Address your card to include your co-worker and his family. For example, address your letter with: "John Doe and family." Not only will this show sympathy for your co-worker but also his family who may be just as close to the family member.
-
2
Write out your card. Don't type it. This will give it a more personalized feel.

-
3
Sign the card with the name that your co-worker is familiar with. If you and your co-worker are on a first name basis, only include your first name. If you don't know each other very well, include your first and last name.
-
4
Hand deliver your sympathy card to your co-worker. If your co-worker is not at work because of an ailing family member, put it in her box where she may receive office mail.
