How to Uninstall an Adobe Reader in Silent Mode

When using an antivirus program on your computer, there is a feature called "silent mode." Silent mode is essentially the program running without launching update windows or scan applications, which is a nice option to have when performing a presentation or playing a video game. Outside of this, running a computer's antivirus software in silent mode is not going to prevent you from removing programs from the system hard drive, including Adobe Reader.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the antivirus software you have installed on the computer. In the control options window, there is a "Silent Mode" feature. Check this to "On" and exit out of the program. Depending on the antivirus software you are running, this overall process is going to vary slightly, so you may want to consult the software user manual if you are not sure.

    • 2

Click "Start," "Control Panel" and double-click the "Programs" icon, followed by "Installed Programs." This loads a new window with all the currently installed programs listed.

    • 3

Scroll through the list of available programs, then select "Adobe Reader" (it should be listed towards the top, as the programs are arranged in alphabetical order).

    • 4

Click "Remove," then "Yes" when asked if you are sure you want to remove the program from the computer. The Uninstall Wizard will load and uninstalls Adobe Reader from the computer.
