How Do I Clean a Glass Flatbed Scanner?

Flatbed scanners are a great way to digitally back up paperwork and photos. If you use your flatbed scanner often, it is likely to accumulate a good deal of dust and fingerprints. In order to get the best-quality scans, you need to clean the glass from time to time.

Things You'll Need

• Window cleaner
• Microfiber cloth

Instructions

1. Unplug your scanner. Whenever using any liquids near electronic devices, unplug them for safety.

2. Spray a small amount of window cleaner on your cloth. Do not spray the window cleaner directly onto the scanner surface. Doing so could result in liquid seeping inside the scanner.

3. Wipe down the glass surface with the moistened cloth. Be careful not to touch the glass surface with your fingers while you are cleaning it. Once you have wiped down the glass surface, wipe down the underside of the scanner lid.

4. Wipe down the surface with a dry cloth to remove any remaining cleaner and debris.

5. Plug the scanner back in.
