How to Report Illegal Immigrant Mexicans

How to Report Illegal Immigrant Mexicans thumbnail
Thousands of new illegal immigrants enter the United States each year.

Illegal immigration has been a heated issue in the United States for years, due in part to the increasing number of illegal immigrants coming into the U.S. each year. An estimated 11.9 million illegal immigrants were living in the United States as of October 2008. Many of the illegal immigrants in the United States come from Mexico and South America, as the U.S. shares its southern border with Mexico. If you want to report an illegal Mexican immigrant, the best way to do so is to notify your local police force or call in a tip to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office.

Collect information on the person you suspect to be an illegal Mexican immigrant, as you will need proof when contacting the authorities. Make a record of the person's address, license plate number, what kind of car they drive, where they work and how many people are living in their household. Try to get the person to actually tell you they are illegal or talk to the person's boss. Lack of a driver's license, social security number or not paying any form of taxes are additional signs a person may be illegal. Ideally, you should have concrete proof of the person's illegal status before reporting him. Otherwise, you will be wasting law enforcement's time; you may also come off looking racist or intolerant.

Contact your local police force and report the person you suspect to be an illegal Mexican immigrant. Provide the police with any information and proof you have that the person is illegal. Tell law enforcement everything you know relating to the matter. The police are trained to handle such cases and will be familiar with how to handle and investigate the matter.

Contact the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office (ICE) by phone and report the person you suspect to be an illegal Mexican immigrant. The ICE will most likely ask you if you have any proof or evidence the person is an illegal immigrant, at which time you can offer to send or fax any evidence you have collected. The ICE will then further investigate the matter. All tips and calls made to the ICE are confidential so you can rest assured the person you are reporting won't find out it was you who reported him.
