How to Attach a Circlet to a Veil

A traditional circlet sits against your forehead rather than sitting on your crown, like a comb. Some modern styles of circlets can be worn behind the hairline, like a headband. Attaching a veil to a circlet can be difficult, because of how it is worn: Many recommend attaching the veil to a comb instead, allowing you to adjust the veil position. However, if you choose to attach the veil to the circlet you have two style options; either cover the top of your head and hair with the veil or have a small veil start above your ears. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the veil to fit the circlet. Depending on how you plan to wear the veil and the size of your circlet, you may need to trim the width and length, to suit the circlet and your body. The veil should fit around the front half of the veil for an over-the-head look. For an over-the-ear look, start the veil just before one ear and end after covering the other ear.

    • 2

Round three of the four edges of the veil, using the scissors to trim the fabric's edges. Leave the top edge of the veil straight, it will be the side attached to the circlet, so it will not be seen. You do not need to take a lot of the fabric off when rounding the edges, you just want to round the corners and make the veil appear soft, rather than having harsh straight edges.

    • 3

Glue the veil to the circlet. Spread a thin bead of glue around the inside edge of the circlet. Depending on the style of veil you want, you will either spread the glue on the front half of the inside of the circlet for an over-the-head veil -- or around the inner backside for an over-the-ear veil.

    • 4

Firmly press the straight edge of the veil to the glue. Ensure the edge of the fabric cannot be seen over the edge of the circlet from the front-side, the fabric should sit flush with the edge of the circlet. Set the circlet and veil aside, until the glue has completely set.

Tips & Warnings

  • It may be easier to use a homemade veil rather than one from a bridal salon, so you can size the veil before embellishments are added.
