Tips & Warnings
Making sun tea with tea bags does not result in as strong of a flavor as traditional hot-brewed tea. To avoid diluting the sun tea with melting ice cubes, pour sun-brewed tea into an ice cube tray and freeze. Use these frozen tea cubes to make your iced tea.
Making sun tea with tea bags can be dangerous. Bacteria thrive in the warm conditions of summer sunlight. To avoid getting sick from sun tea, wash your glass container thoroughly before use. Refrigerate sun tea immediately after it finishes brewing to halt bacterial growth. Discard tea that you have not consumed by the end of the day.
