How to Respond to a Compliment From a Guy

Compliments are nice, no matter who they come from. It may be tempting to read into a compliment from a guy and assume that he is trying to warm you up to ask you on a date or otherwise hit on you, but this may not necessarily be the case. Even if it is, and you're not interested, you should still respond to his compliment in a gracious manner. After all, even if you're not attracted to him, you should be nice to him because it's the right thing to do.

Instructions

1. Say "Thank you" to the compliment. This is all you really need to do. Look him in the eye, be sincere and thank him for making the effort to compliment you on something.

2. Compliment him later, if you see him. Complimenting him immediately sounds kind of hollow, but if you compliment him the next day, week or month he'll appreciate it more because he likely will have forgotten he complimented you.

3. Compliment someone else. Receiving a compliment feels nice; a guy complimented you, so pay it forward.
