How to Address an Aunt & Uncle on Escort Cards for Weddings
The purpose of an escort card is to let your guests know where they are seated at the wedding reception. Escort cards can be folded tent cards or an envelope with the guest's name written on the outside and the table number on a card inside. You also can be creative and use an object such as a seashell, candle or other item as your escort card. Escort cards should always use the guest's first and last name, even if the guest is a close family member like an aunt or uncle.

Decide how formal you'd like your escort cards to look. If you're going the formal route, address your aunt and uncle as "Mr. and Mrs. Doe." For a more casual wedding, write "Jane and John Doe," but avoid using an overly informal tone such as "Aunt Jane and Uncle John." If your aunt and uncle do not share a last name, write "Jane Doe and John Smith" on the escort card.

Use one escort card for your aunt and uncle; there is no need for separate cards unless your aunt and uncle are seated at separate tables. In this case, address them as "Mr. John Doe" or "Jane Doe."

Write your aunt and uncle's names on the outside of the escort card envelope, or directly on the card itself when using tent cards. If you're using an object such as a flower pot or candle as an escort card, write the guests' names on a piece of card stock or paper and tie it to the item with a piece of ribbon.

Place the escort cards in alphabetical order on a table where your guests can easily find them prior to the wedding reception.
