How to Install a Vonage Phone with Wireless Internet

Vonage is a VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) service that allows you to make your local and long distance telephone calls through your Internet connection. The Vonage device used to connect your service through your computer is designed with a built-in wireless router and can act as the main networking router for your Internet connection throughout your home. The process of installing a Vonage phone with wireless Internet is fairly straightforward.

  • Unplug the power cable for your computer modem from the wall outlet.

  • Plug the blue Ethernet cable into the "Ethernet" port in the back of your computer modem. Plug the other end of the cable into the "Ethernet" port in the back of the Vonage device.

  • Plug the yellow Ethernet cable into the "Ethernet 1" port in the back of your computer. Plug the other end of the cable into the yellow-colored "Ethernet 1" port in the back of the Vonage device.

  • Plug the power cable for the computer modem back into the wall outlet.

  • Plug the Vonage device power cable into the "Power" port in the back of the Vonage device. Plug the other end of the cable into the wall outlet.

  • Plug the green phone cable into the "Phone 1" port in the back of the Vonage device. Plug the other end of the cable into the base of the telephone.
