Intex Pool Chemical Maintenance Directions

Save

Swimming pools, including the Intex type of pool, require regular sanitizer, algaecide, and clarifier treatments to stay clear and safe. Pool sanitizer chemicals reduce the amount of bacteria and other contaminants residing in the water. Algaecides kill out or prevent algae growths. Pool clarifiers drop any debris particles suspended in the water to the pool bottom for easier vacuuming. Chemical applications for maintenance purposes take place weekly or every two weeks to keep the pool well maintained.

Things You'll Need

  • Algaecide
  • Bucket
  • Pool shock
  • Pool clarifier
  • Unscrew the cap of a pool algaecide. Pour 3 ounces of algaecide into the Intex pool for every 10,000 gallons of water held within the pool. Apply algaecide to the pool once every week.

  • Mix 1 pound of a chlorine based pool shock into a bucket filled with water for every 10,000 gallons of water in the Intex pool. Stir the mixture inside the bucket with a wooden spoon or stick until very little chlorine shock remains undissolved.

  • Dump the entire contents of the bucket into the Intex pool. Quickly brush any undissolved shock granules off the bottom of the pool with a pool brush to prevent staining of the liner. Shock the pool once every two weeks.

  • Unscrew the cap of a pool clarifier. Pour 2 ounces of the clarifier into the Intex pool for every 10,000 gallons of water held within the pool. Apply calrifier to the pool once every week.
