How to Lock Music on an iPhone

While there is no way to lock access to all of the music on your iPhone, you can restrict access so that all songs and albums carrying the "Explicit" label will be locked and unavailable to anyone who is using your phone. This feature works with all content purchased directly from iTunes, but won't be effective for music uploaded to your iTunes account from other sources.

  • Press the "Settings" icon on your iPhone's home screen.

  • Scroll down the "Settings" menu and press "General."

  • Select "Restrictions." If restrictions are already set on your iPhone, you must enter the correct passcode prior to modifying the settings.

  • Click on "Enable Restrictions" and create a four-digit passcode when prompted. Make sure you choose a passcode you will remember, as you won't be able to modify your restrictions without it.

  • Scroll down the screen and set restrictions on the types of content you want to prevent access to on your iPhone. To lock explicit music, move the slider next to "Music" so that it is in the "On" position. Once the restrictions are activated, the restricted content will be hidden from view.
