How to Add an Image to Bottle Caps
While most people never think twice about tossing bottle caps into the garbage, saving them allows you creative freedom. You can use bottle caps to create a large variety of crafts from one-of-a-kind belts, earrings and necklaces to the decorative borders on lamps, vases and candle holders. However, if you're not crazy about the soda or beer logo on your collection of bottle caps or if your logos are worn, you can easily transform them by imprinting images on them.
Things You'll Need
- All-purpose spray cleaner
- Soft cloth
- 100-grit sandpaper
- Stencils
- Masking tape
- Spray paint for metals
Instructions

1
Spray the front and back of each bottle cap with a squirt from a bottle of all-purpose cleaner. Wipe it down.
-
2
Sand the top of each bottle cap with 100-grit sandpaper. Sanding the metal makes the bottle caps more receptive to receiving the paint.
-
-
3
Wipe the dust off each bottle cap with a soft cloth. Place a small stencil of your desired image on each bottle cap and tape it into place with masking tape.
-
4
Hold a can of spray paint 8 inches away, and spray the stencil onto the bottle cap. Carefully remove the stencil as the paint dries.
