How to Disable MotoBlur on the Backflip
Motorola differentiates its handsets from the rest of the Android pack by "skinning" Android with its custom Motoblur user interface (UI). Motoblur replaces the Android UI with homescreens focused on social networking feeds from Twitter and Facebook. Disabling Motoblur does not require you to hack or root your phone, which voids your warranty. Just find a launcher you'd prefer, and install it as you would any other app from the Android Market.
Instructions
-
-
1
Tap the "App Drawer" icon from the Motoblur homescreen, and tap the "Market" icon.
-
2
Search for an alternate launcher. Launcherpro and ADW Launcher provide more customizations while retaining Android's overall look and feel. The stock Gingerbread Launcher is the launcher from Google's 2.3 iteration of Android, but it will work on an Android 2.1 Backflip.
-
-
3
Press the "Install" or "Purchase" key next to the icon of the launcher of your choice.
-
4
Choose, when prompted, between two launchers, with one being Motoblur. Check the box for "Always do this in the future," and pick the launcher you just installed.

Tips & Warnings
Your Backflip must be running 2.1 Android to run alternate launchers. As of 2011, all Motorola Backflips are eligible for an over the air (OTA) update. From your phone, navigate to the link in "Resources" to update if you have not already done so.
