How Can I Make My Own Vodka Ice Luge?
An ice luge is a sloped block of ice with lanes carved into it. You can pour liquor down the lanes at parties either as a part of a game or as a fun way to cool shots of vodka or any alcohol before drinking it. Ice luges can be striking additions to parties and make any party more memorable. It is simple to make ice luges at home. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Large block of ice
- Screwdriver or chiseling tool
- Tape
- Table
- Towels
- Kettle
- Cloth

Purchase a large block of ice from a local supplier. Ice suppliers can be found easiest by looking in a local phone book.

Place the block of ice on the table where the luge will be located during the party. Make sure this is an area where the floor won't be damaged by water, as the ice will be melting all evening.

Outline at least two luges along the block in tape. "S" shapes are a common design for ice luges. The width of the luge should be no more than 1 inch.

Chip away at the ice with a screwdriver, following the outline you have made with the tape. At the top of the luge the depth should be 1/2 inch. Gradually, the luge should deepen to create a downward slope. At the bottom of the luge it is recommended that the depth be at least 2 inches.

Wipe away any excess ice with the cloth and warm some water in a kettle. Pour warm water down the luge and wipe it with the cloth to smooth it out. Repeat until the water runs smoothly down the luge.

Tips & Warnings
The luge should be wide enough to run two fingers down its center, but no wider.
Do not use boiling water to smooth the luge.
