How to Upload Templates Via FTP in Windows Vista

Although more robust FTP clients exist for transferring files such as templates to an FTP server, Windows Vista includes a bare-bones client in Internet Explorer. The client allows you access to the server in order to view its contents, as well as to download files and upload them through a standard Explorer window, as if opening folders on your own computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter the FTP address of the site you want to upload the templates to in Internet Explorer.

    • 2

Click "Page" in Internet Explorer and then click "Open FTP site in Windows Explorer."

    • 3

Press the Alt button on your keyboard and click "File," then click "Login as" in the menu that appears.

    • 4

Enter the username and password for the site at the prompt that appears. Click "Log On."

    • 5

Double-click to open the folders that appear. Browse to the folder you want to upload the templates to.

    • 6

Click and drag the template into the folder you want to upload it to to send it to the server.
