How to Use Custom HTML Tags in Outlook 2003

Use HTML if you want more control over the look of your email messages. The HyperText Markup Language (HTML) is the standard for basic Web programming, and is used with email clients and applications as well. In Microsoft Outlook 2003, the standard way to enter an email message is in the rich text format (RTF). Rich text automatically generates basic HTML based on a "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) editor. If you want complete control with your own custom HTML tags, you have to enable this function in the options section.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start," then "Microsoft Outlook 2003."

    • 2

      Click "Tools," and then "Options."

    • 3

Click "Mail Format" on the top.

    • 4

Click the "Message format" drop-down and select "HTML."

    • 5

Click "OK." When you create a new email, you can enter any HTML tags and it will produce the desired effect.
