Whirlpool Quiet Partner Is Not Drying

Meredith Jameson

The Whirlpool Quiet Partner dishwasher was ranked a "Recommended Buy" for consumers, according to the Whirlpool website, and it includes multiple spray jets; reduced-water and -energy, adaptive and speech wash cycles; control lock; and delay wash features. So what happens when the Quiet Partner dishwasher does not dry as expected? You might want to perform some troubleshooting steps to see if you can determine the source of the problem before calling Whirlpool for assistance.

Interrupted Cycle

Sometimes the reason why a Whirlpool dishwasher does not work as expected is fairly simple, such as interrupting the cycle to add a dish and not starting the dishwasher back up as needed. To stop the dishwasher correctly midcycle, open the door slowly and then shut it again firmly within three seconds. Press "Start/Resume" to return the washer to the cycle. If you press "Stop/Cancel" at any time, the cycle will be canceled and will not resume, which means the dishes will not be run through the dry cycle.

Rinse Aid

Rinse aid detergent, which is available for purchase at most home retail, grocery or hardware stores, can help dishes and glasses get dry before the cycle is complete. The Whirlpool Quiet Partner dishwasher is specifically designed for use with rinse aid, and dishes may not dry enough without it. Fill the rinse aid dispenser to the fill mark before starting the wash cycle. If the rinse aid detergent spills, wipe it up well, as it can cause oversudsing if not cleaned properly.

Overloading

Overloading the dishwasher can keep the dishes from rinsing and drying properly during the cycle, so it is important to load correctly. Allow a space between each dish, and tip items facing downward to allow the water to run off the dishes instead of pooling on or in the items.

Heated Dry

Did you select an "Air Dry" or "Energy Saving Dry" option? If so, the dishwasher does not use heat during these dry cycles, which can leave items wet. Make a new dry cycle selection and press "Start/Resume" to use a heated cycle, or close the dishwasher and allow a few hours for items to air-dry.

Drain Hose

Is there water in the bottom of the tub after the dishwasher has fully completed a cycle? If so, turn off and disconnect the GE dishwasher, and set a towel under the drain hose in the rear. Disconnect the hose and clean it out to remove anything that may be creating a drainage issue. Reconnect the drain hose and make sure the connection is firm, straightening out the hose to prevent kinks.
