A secure digital card, also known as an SD card, has become one of the standards for external memory cards for cameras and some video cameras. Transferring the pictures to your computer can be the quickest option to share your photos. Most modern computers have software that will you allow to share the images online, place on a CD or DVD, send by e-mail and more.
Things You'll Need
- SD card
- Computer (with SD port)
- SD memory card reader
Insert your SD card into the SD memory port on your computer or through an external memory card reader that has SD reader capabilities.
Click on the "Start" button in the bottom-left corner of your desktop menu and select the "My Computer" option.
Find your SD card device in the "My Computer" window. Double-click to open and view the files.
Choose how you want to send the pictures. To upload to a website, open the website and launch the upload tool that allows you to import pictures directly.
Insert a blank disc into your computer if you want to send your photos on CD or DVD. Drag and drop the files directly from the SD card onto the disc and press the "Burn" button.
E-mail the photos by logging into your e-mail account and composing a new message. Click on the button that allows you to attach files and browse through your SD card folder for the picture you want to attach. Double-click on the image to complete the attachment and click the "Send" button.

- You can also use a camera USB connector cable to hook your camera up to your computer for a direct transfer.
