1
Draw out the swimsuit pattern on your fabric using a piece of chalk. You may also purchase a swimsuit pattern from a pattern company, if you feel you may need assistance with creating a pattern. If you are creating a one-piece suit, you will need to trace out the pattern of the front and back of your swimsuit using two different pieces of fabric. A two-piece bathing suit will only require one piece of fabric.

2
Cut the fabric following your pattern lines. Cut the lining fabric to match the pattern of the front and crotch of your swimsuit. For a fully lined suit, generally used in one-piece swimsuits, cut the lining fabric to match the patterns for the front and back of the suit.

3
Lay the lining and fabric on top of one another and place the elastic in the areas where leg, arm and/or neck holes will be. Fold over the raw edges towards the wrong side of the suit and pin in place. Turn the suit wrong side out after all of the edges have been folded over.
-
4
Sew all of the edges of your swimsuit together using your pattern as a guide to finish off your new custom swimsuit.
