1
Secure the fish with a hook or hold it with your fingers in the gill plate. Do not kill the fish because you want to keep it fresh until you leave the water.
-
2
Slide the point of the metal rod through the gill plate and out the mouth of the fish. Slide the point through the metal ring and pull on the point to tighten the cord around the fish.

3
Hang the fish in the water and tie the cord around an anchor point. Remove the cord with each catch and slide the rod through the gill plate. Allow the fish to drop down the cord. The initial catch will prevent the fish from falling off the stringer.

Tie an overhand loop in the cord to create a finger hold. Make the loop wide to allow easy transportation of the fish.

Tips & Warnings
Do not kill the fish until the end of the fishing day. Slit the gills with a sharp knife to drain the blood from the meat and place the fish on ice as soon as possible.
Overloading the stringer may cause the jaw to rip away from the fish during transportation. Monitor the weight on the stringer and use two stringers if the weight is excessive.
