How to Make Banana Costumes
Homemade costumes are a good alternative to store bought costumes if you have the time to make them. Making a costume does not always mean that it will cost less than a store bought equivalent, especially if it takes more than one attempt to get the costume right. This banana costume will have three sides and use hot glue to bind them together. The costume should take about 2 hours of work to assemble.
Things You'll Need

- Brown fabric
- Hot glue gun

1
Measure and cut the first piece of yellow fabric so that it is about 1 foot shorter than the wearer and 4 inches wider than his shoulders. This will be the front of the banana and should be shaped to resemble a stretched diamond with rounded sides.
-
2
Cut the next two pieces so that they will reach from the top of the first piece down to the wearer's lower back, just above the seat. Each piece should be half the width of the first piece.

3
Lay the first piece flat on the floor. Have the wearer lay on top of it with his arms straight out from his sides. Mark where the face hole should be, leaving about 1 foot of fabric above the top of the head. Then, mark where the arm holes should be.
-
4
Cut the face hole so that it is just slightly larger than the face.
-
5
Hot glue the first side piece to the front piece creating a seam; be sure to leave the arm hole open. Glue the second side the same way.
-
6
Have the wearer stand up and put the costume on. Mark how far down the back you can glue the seam and still allow the wearer to get in and out of the costume. Glue the seam.
-
7
Using the brown fabric, cut an end piece for the top and bottom of the banana. Glue the pieces to the costume.
