How Can I Get Movie Press Kits?
Movie press kits are made available by almost every production company to the media, including entertainment bloggers, for promotional purposes. If you are willing to give a movie free publicity, especially good publicity, your chances of getting a press kit are good. Some companies will require you to meet certain standards, such as having an established website with a certain number of visitors, before they will ship anything to you.

1
Check the website of the company or movie. It may have a section set aside specifically for the media. This section usually includes news releases and brief biographies on the actors, actresses and director.
-
2
Read the news releases. If the website does not list what you are looking for, the name of the person you will need to ask will be listed in the news release with an e-mail address, phone number or both. If an e-mail address is provided, use it first and follow up with a phone call a day or two later. Usually public relations representatives will get back to you on the same day, but sometimes it might take a day or two.

3
Be prepared to answer questions. Public relations people keep track of whom asks them about movies. Questions that you may need to answer include your name, job title and name of publication or website you work for, how you heard about the movie, why you are interested in promoting the movie and your shipping address. You will also need to have some idea of the publication's circulation or the website's weekly or monthly traffic. These questions weed out the posers who are just trying to score free movies.
-
4
Answer any e-mails you receive from the public relations representative promptly. If you wait more than a day or two to answer an e-mail, you are taking a risk that the representative has forgotten who you are or will think that you aren't all that serious about promoting the movie. If something prevented you from answering within two days, offer an apology and brief explanation. Remember to keep your correspondences professional.
-
5
Be willing to provide proof that you have written articles promoting the movie, either by supplying links to online articles you posted or printed clippings of your work. This will help you establish a good working relationship with the company in case you want promotional items for future releases.
-
6
Check places such as eBay, conventions and memorabilia stores for press kits from past releases if you aren't in the media.
