This is why it's more important than ever to protect your information against online scams. Does this Spark an idea?

Access your online banking account only from your home network. Never log into your online banking account from any public network in locations such as coffee shops, schools or businesses. These types of networks are unsecured, and any information sent over the network -- including your online banking user name and password -- will be visible to other people on the network.

Do not click on any links in emails purporting to be from your bank. Many spam emails take the appearance of official correspondence. If you get an email and are unsure of its validity, open your Web browser and go directly to your bank's website. Log in from the website instead of from the link in your email.

Never send your banking information in an email to a third party. Your bank should never email you and request your user name, password or any other information that can be used to identify your account. If you get an email from someone claiming to be from your bank and asking you to respond to the email with your personal information, report the email to your bank's fraud department.
