How to Transfer Large Files to Your Western Digital External Hard Drive
External hard drives are very useful for backing up your computer or transporting files from one computer to another. Western Digital is one of the leading companies in the manufacture and production of both internal and external hard drives. At the time this article was written, the maximum storage capacity of a single external hard drive is one Terabyte.

Connect your external hard drive to an available USB port on your computer. Your computer will assign your external hard drive a drive letter designation.

Double-click the drive letter designation for your external hard drive. This will open a window that displays the contents of your external drive.

Open the folder containing the files you wish to transfer to your hard drive.

Select the files you wish to transfer and drag-and-drop them into the external hard drive window. The amount of time it takes for the file to completely transfer to the drive depends on the size of the file. A status window will appear with an estimated amount of time for the files to transfer.
