DIY Baseball Centerpiece
Centerpieces bring a dining table into the theme of the event or party and are often a large part of event planning, but can also be used as everyday decor within a home. Handmade baseball centerpieces can finish off the baseball-themed atmosphere of a baseball banquet, a baseball-themed birthday party or any sports-themed event. With a few craft supplies, you can easily make your own simple baseball centerpieces to display on one or more tables.

Instructions

1
Cut a foam board into a square with a serrated knife. Choose the size of the square based on how large you want the centerpiece.
-
2
Lay a piece of indoor/outdoor carpeting upside down on a flat surface. Use a piece of the carpeting that is larger than the foam board.
-
-
3
Place the foam board in the center of the piece of carpeting and pull the sides of the carpeting up around the board, stapling it in place with a staple gun. Cut away the excess carpeting with scissors and flip the board over. This is now your baseball "diamond."
-
4
Cut four squares from white craft foam to use as "bases" over the corners of the diamond. Choose the size of the bases according to the size of your field.
-
5
Glue the white foam squares over the corners of the field with white craft glue.
-
6
Draw a baseball, baseball bat and baseball glove onto foam core board with a pencil. Color them with markers on both sides and cut the shapes out with a utility knife.
-
7
Poke three holes into your field with the pointed end of a bamboo skewer.
-
8
Poke the pointed ends of bamboo skewers into the bottom of each foam core shape, directly into the foam between the paper layers. Use one skewer per shape and leave the skewers in place.
-
9
Poke the un-pointed ends of the bamboo skewers into the holes that you punched in the field. This leaves your decorate foam core shapes sticking up out of the field on the skewers.
-
10
Cut several sections of curling ribbon, about 8 inches long each. Curl the ribbon by scraping one blade of the scissors across each length. Scatter the ribbons around the inserted skewers. Use ribbons in your team's colors to show your spirit.
