How to Look Like a Gangster Boy

A gangster boy is a fun and simple costume.

Although the style of modern gangster groups is casual and somewhat sloppy, with low-slung pants and baggy shirts, gangster boys from the early 1900s had a look that was very sharp and elegant. Channel the classic gangster boy image by dressing in the classic style. This outfit is ideal for a costume party, a play or even as the basis for a nice outfit for an evening out.

Things You'll Need

• Black dress shoes and socks
• Shoe polish
• Soft cloth
• Iron and ironing board
• Starch
• Black shirt
• White tie
• Black or pinstripe suit
• Black fedora
• Suspenders
• Hair gel
• Gold jewelry
• Toy machine gun or pistol
• Gold foil

Instructions

1. Polish black shoes with shoe polish and a soft cloth until they are shiny enough to see a reflection in.

2. Iron your the pants and shirt with starch, making a sharp crease in the pants and in the arms of the shirt.

3. Attach suspenders to the pants.

4. Dress yourself in the shirt and suit, placing the suspenders over your shoulders before you put on the suit jacket.

5. Put on black socks then place the black shoes on your feet.

6. Slick your hair back with gel. When the gel dries, place a black fedora on your head.

7. Accessorize the outfit with gold jewelry, a white tie toy gun and gold teeth. Wear a large gold ring, gold tie tack or small gold chain around your neck. Tie the tie around your neck under the collar. To complete the look, carry around a toy machine gun or pistol, and wrap a few of your teeth in gold foil to simulate gold-capped teeth.

• Mixing the shoe polish with a bit of water will help create a shinier finish.
