Contact the local or state government authority to determine the cost of the license. Explore options to pay by credit card, if that is an option.

2
Work as an apprentice for a company with the type of business license that you seek. For example, working for a company that is licensed as a roofing contractor or heating and air conditioning specialist allows you to learn about the business while saving for a license of your own.

Find investors. Create a solid business plan and present it to several potential investors interested in contributing say, a few hundred dollars each. Sign promissory notes with the investors promising to pay back their investment with interest in two equal installments at a certain point in time. Find potential investors by networking with friends and family and through your social networks.

Sell personal items if necessary. Have a series of garage sales to raise the money needed to the license. Ask friends and family members to help you out by contributing items for the sales.
