Internet Explorer 7 includes a built in search box, but this search box becomes redundant when using the Google, Bing or Yahoo toolbars. Unfortunately, Microsoft did not build in an option to remove the toolbar from the browser window, but the toolbar is easily removed by making a small registry edit. Though this seems like a daunting task, it is easily accomplished by using Notepad. The process is also easily reversed to regain the toolbar.
Close any open IE7 windows.
Open the "Start" menu and click "Run."
Type "notepad" and click "OK." This will open the Notepad application.
Copy the following registry edit and paste into Notepad -- "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
Save the file as "IE7_NoSearchBar.reg."
Double-click on the file. The instructions will be merged into the registry, removing the toolbar from IE7.
