How to Add Someone to Your Domain on GoDaddy

Every website or domain name that is hosted through GoDaddy's online web hosting includes a File Transfer Protocol server, or FTP server. The FTP server is the location on which the website files are stored. The main GoDaddy account holder can access all elements of his or her website, including the FTP server. However, if you have a web developer building your website, you may wish to give him access to only one FTP, rather than handing over your entire GoDaddy account credentials. When a user is added to an FTP, he or she only has access to the specified FTP. That access can be revoked at any time by the account holder.

Instructions

Click "Products" and then select "Web Hosting" from the navigational menu.

    • 3

Click "Launch" beside the domain name to which you would like to add a user.

    • 4

Click "Settings" and then select "FTP Users."

    • 5

Click "Add FTP User" and then enter a user username and password for the user.

    • 6

Click "Path" to choose the top-most folder that you would like to allow the user to be able to access. This folder can be a subdirectory, root level directory or a custom folder using the user's username.

    • 7

Click "Save" to save your settings, which become effective about one hour after saving.

    • 8

Provide the username and password to the user, which allows them to log into the account from the GoDaddy home page.
