How to Connect to the Internet Without Interference With the Telephone
Interference is a common problem between the telephone and your modem if your equipment is not properly installed. Since the modem and the phone are using the same line at the same time, you can end up with a loud squealing noise on the line, and the phone or the modem may not work properly. Fortunately, eliminating interference from the phone while connecting to the Internet only requires basic equipment.
Instructions

-
1
Turn off your modem so it is not damaged while you are installing filters onto the phone jacks.
-
2
Unplug any telephone lines from the jacks in the wall so that you can install the proper filters.
-
-
3
Insert a DSL filter into every phone jack in the home. They install the same way the phone lines do with the same connection. There will be an open port on the back of the filter for the phone line to hook into.
-
4
Plug the phone lines into the filter ports, with the filter in between the phone and the wall jack. The filter eliminates noise and interference between the phone and the modem.
-
5
Turn your modem back on and connect to the Internet. You should not have any further interference from the phone.
