How to Uninstall Mcafee From the Command Line

Save

The McAfee suite contains several utility applications, but the forefront software from this company is the anti-virus software. Sometimes it is impossible to completely get rid of the McAfee anti-virus using the native uninstaller. Using methods such as the Command Prompt will allow you to get rid of all the McAfee components. This procedure only requires a few brief steps.

  • Press the Windows key. Type "cmd" in the Start Search field and press "Enter." This will launch the Command Prompt.

  • Type the following commands at the prompt and press "Enter" in the following order:

    cd \Program Files\Common Files\Network Associates\Talkback

    TBMON --Delref

    cd \Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan

    Naiavfin --u

    cd \Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework

    Frminst /remove=updater

    cd \Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan

    Regsvr32 /u Scriptproxy.dll

    scan32.exe /UninstallMAS

  • Reboot the computer. Click "Start," "Control Panel" and then "Uninstall a Program." Ensure that the McAfee application is no longer under the list of installed software.
