How to Send a Group SMS on a BlackBerry

Among the many features preloaded on the BlackBerry smartphone is the ability to send a group SMS message. An SMS message is a brief text message that is viewable on a mobile phone. Creating and texting a group saves you the trouble of typing the same message several times to send to different people. Contacts who receive a group SMS message are unaware that the message was part of a group message.

  • Press the "Menu" key on the BlackBerry; then click the "Contacts" icon.

  • Press the "Menu" key, and select "New Group." Enter a name for the group in the top field.

  • Scroll down and click "No Contacts." Click "Add Member," and review the contacts saved in your phone's address book.

  • Highlight a name to add to the group, and press the trackpad. Press "Menu," and select other members to add to the group.

  • Press the "Menu" key, and click "Save Group." Press the "End" key to exit to the phone's home screen.

  • Click the "SMS and MMS" icon, and press the "Menu" key. Click "Compose SMS Text."

  • Click the "To" field, and select the group you created. You can also type the name of the group. Click "OK."

  • Enter the text for the message; then press the "Menu" key. Click "Send" to deliver the message to each contact in the group.
