How to Setup/Change Outlook Email Line Space


By default, the Microsoft Outlook application is configured to use single line spacing for outgoing messages. When you are composing a new email, you can customize the text style and change the line space setting. You can adjust the line spacing for a certain portion of an email by highlighting the text before changing the settings.

Things You'll Need

  • PC running Windows XP or later
  • Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later
  • Launch the Microsoft Outlook application on your PC.

  • Navigate to the "Mail" tab in the lower-left corner of the window.

  • Open the "File" menu, go into the "New" submenu and select "Mail Message."

  • Fill in the "To," "Subject" and "Body" sections of the message with the desired information.

  • Highlight the text in the body of the email for which you want to adjust the line spacing.

  • Go to "Format" in the top menu bar and choose "Paragraph."

  • Open the drop-down menu labeled "Line spacing" and choose the format setting you want to use.

  • Press the "OK" button to apply the new line spacing setup to the highlighted text.
